Walter Bien has served as Chief Financial Officer and member of the Executive Board of Alliander since October 2019. In this role, he is at the centre of one of today’s most pressing investment challenges: how to finance and prioritise the expansion of the energy infrastructure when demand is growing faster than available capacity. As CFO, Walter is closely involved in complex decisions around capital allocation, long-term financing and societal impact. He previously held senior financial and executive positions across the infrastructure and construction sectors for more than twenty years, including roles at Boskalis and Ballast Nedam. Walter also serves as board member and treasurer of Natuurmonumenten.
