Klaas Knot served as President of De Nederlandsche Bank from 2011 to 2025, shaping monetary policy and financial stability in the Netherlands and across Europe during a period marked by financial crises, inflation, and geopolitical uncertainty. He was a member of the Governing Council of the European Central Bank and chaired the Financial Stability Board from 2021 to 2025, coordinating global efforts to safeguard the financial system. He currently leads KK Economic Advisory, advising public authorities on crisis preparedness, financial stability, and long-term economic resilience. He is also a member of the Group of Thirty and serves as honorary professor of economics of central banking at the University of Groningen and of monetary stability at the University of Amsterdam. Earlier in his career, he held senior roles at the Dutch Ministry of Finance, the IMF, and De Nederlandsche Bank. He holds a PhD in economics from the University of Groningen.
