STRATEGIC M&A: WHEN M&A DRIVES LONG-TERM VALUE CREATION
You might think: of course M&A is a strategy for value creation, that’s logical. And yet, there are numerous examples of deals that are not embedded in a larger strategy and are not successful. Let’s take a step back and look at the essence of strategic M&A. Ideally, a company develops a long-term vision and strategy, of which mergers and acquisitions are an essential part. Studies have shown that companies that do this, create substantially more value than those that operate ad hoc. Why then does it still go wrong? Our panel of professionals from different areas of expertise discusses observations, insights, ideas and suggestions to guide and advise companies in different stages: in the general strategy phase (M&A as part of a bigger picture), during the process and PMI.

HOW YOUNG M&A PROFESSIONALS CAN BE AGENTS OF CHANGE
Times are changing so it’s interesting to see if and how the M&A profession evolves. During this Young M&A Forum, we will look at three domains specifically:
Diversity: what is your experience with diversity in your office? How can we create more inclusive and diverse environments?
Work-life balance: M&A can be very demanding and the cliché says there is no work-life balance in M&A. However, young professionals become more and more aware of the importance of leisure, social life and me-time for their wellbeing. At the same time, our job is an essential part of life, so how do we deal with this struggle?
Bridging the gap between “young” and “senior” M&A professionals: between generations, there might be a lot lost in translation. How do you find connection with the more experienced people in your office? How do we enhance communication and stimulate knowledge sharing?
