Description

You need people to develop new skills. But should acquiring those skills change their role, career prospects or pay?
As AI reshapes work, CHROs face choices that reach beyond upskilling. Existing job structures provide consistency and clarity but may not reflect the capabilities the business increasingly needs.
Rewarding scarce skills could help attract and retain talent yet create differences that are difficult to explain to colleagues doing similar work.

In this round table, you will exchange experiences and discuss these trade-offs with fellow CHROs. Should skills replace jobs as the basis for career and reward decisions, or enrich existing structures? Which skills should influence pay, and on what grounds? Aon joins the discussion as an expert contributor, drawing on its 2026 Human Capital Trends Study.
Building on the opening panel’s question: do we lack talent, or do our existing structures limit how we use and reward it?
