Herman Betten is Chief Corporate Affairs and Communications Officer and member of the Executive Committee at Upfield since 1 January 2024. He joined Upfield from consultancy agency Teneo where he was CEO of the Netherlands business, leading on financial communications, media relations, public affairs and government relations and risk management. From 2007 until 2023 he worked for Royal DSM in the Netherlands where he was Vice President, Strategic Partnerships & Systems Thinking and, before that, global communications director. His background is in financial journalism: he was owner and editor of a Netherlands-based financial newswire. He has also worked for the Dutch national radio and TV.

He has >15 years of experience leading on media relations, ESG/sustainability strategic partnerships, company and brand positioning, capital market-related transactions, crisis, and reputation management. He also served as an advisor to the World Economic Forum’s leadership on its climate initiatives and is a board member of the social enterprise ChangeCo.
